Status
The New Apostolic Church in the Slovak Republic
is an officially recognized denomination with its registered seat in Bratislava. Authorized to represent the Church is Ľubor Kučera as Church president.
Leadership
The New Apostolic Church in the Slovak Republic is part of the worldwide operating New Apostolic Church, whose highest spiritual authority is the Chief Apostle. In 1993 the Chief Apostle assigned the District Church in the Slovak Republic to the New Apostolic Church Saxony/Thuringia, which is led by Wilfried Klingler, Church President of the District Churches in Central Germany.
Congregations
In the year 1939 the first divine services of the New Apostolic Church were conducted in Tužiná, near the town of Žilina. Owing to the confusion caused by World War Two, the congregation disbanded, however.
In the year 1984 a congregation was established in Bratislava. The congregation here has its own church at the foot of Bratislava Castle.
In the 1990s congregations were founded in Poprad and Košice and in 1997 in Komárno.
The congregations in the Slovak Republic are looked after by Apostle Gerald Bimberg, who also cares for the congregations in Saxony (Germany) and in Poland. Bishop Thomas Matthes assists the Apostle Bimberg in Saxony (Germany) and in Slovakia.
Ministers and other members travel to Slovakia on a regular basis to support the pastoral work there.
